Friday’s Writing Advice from James M. Tabor

LEDGE-Tabor-compressed_320._V178517053_Today’s writing advice comes from James M. Tabor, author of the best-selling Blind Descent, The Deep Zone and the much-anticipated Frozen Solid (out in March):

I’ll echo David Morrell’s excellent suggestion here: find your own trope.  Don’t try to ride current trends—vampires, dystopian, werewolves, grand assassins, whatever.  By the time a trend has achieved notoriety, it’s already on the decline.  Find your trope and your voice and you will build the foundation for a career.  Chase other people’s success and you won’t.
