Carved in Memory Promotion Results
My short story Carved in Memory, a prequel to my spy thriller Arctic Wargame, was offered for free on Amazon during June 12-14. I promoted on many indie authors websites, but did not run any paid ads, and used the social media and various author forums.
I had 320 downloads from Amazon.com, 35 from Amazon.co.uk and 7 from Amazon.de. The promotion resulted in a few sales of my other short story, The Last Confession, and in a four-star review for Carved in Memory.
Just wondering how do these numbers sound for a short story from a completely unknown author? And what’s next?
Ethan, in my experience, your numbers are about typical, perhaps even slightly higher than average. I occasionally hear or read stories about authors who give away thousands upon thousands of freebies over a few days, but often that’s because of some luck they had having one of the free-listing sites providing some promotion. Sometimes there are other factors.
Thanks, Ty. I appreciate your input.
